茎に1葉を頂生し、花は茎の先端から1または多数総状に生じる。Dr. Robert L. Dessler著Field Guide to the orchids of Casta Rica and Panamaによれば、この地帯で約200種が報告されている。しかしまだ未分類の種類も多数あると考えられる。パナマに分布する植物を数回に分けて紹介する。
This genus is a huge and diverse one containing more than 1000 species and is found in the south and north American continents. Mostly are epiphytes.
The plant has one leaf and one or many racemose inflorescence on the stem. Dr. Robert L. Dessler wrote in Field Guide to the orchids of Casta Rica and Panama that nearly 200 species are found in this area. However, there are more species unidentified. Some species are introduced in the next several times.
Este genero es uno de los mas grandes y diversos conteniendo más de 1000 especies y se encuentro en los continentes de América del Sur y Norte. La mayoría de sus especies son epifitos.
La planta tiene una hoja y una o muchas inflorescencias en cima del tallo. El Dr. Robert L. Dessler escribió en Field Guide to the orchids of Casta Rica and Panama que más o menos 200 especies se encuentran en esta área. Sin embargo, hay más especies sin identificar.
